Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.90%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jean Co Ltd (TW:2442), which rose 9.96% or 1.35 points to trade at 14.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Tainergy Tech Co Ltd (TW:4934) added 9.91% or 0.67 points to end at 7.43 and Chia Ta World Co Ltd (TW:2033) was up 9.90% or 1.00 points to 11.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526), which fell 9.93% or 2.95 points to trade at 26.75 at the close. Chlitina Holding Ltd (TW:4137) declined 6.33% or 15.50 points to end at 229.50 and Walsin Technology Corp (TW:2492) was down 5.54% or 13.00 points to 221.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 610 to 182 and 121 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526) fell to 52-week lows; losing 9.93% or 2.95 to 26.75.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.23% or 0.16 to $69.75 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.20% or 0.16 to hit $79.19 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.40% or 4.80 to trade at $1207.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 30.777, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2224.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 94.10.
